I contorted myself for years
I dimmed my truth, softened my opinions, and rationalized others' hurtful behavior to maintain connection and the illusion of safety.
Then a trusted friend ended our relationship without warning, and I was devastated. I realized I'd been over-accommodating, trying to hold onto something that was already gone. Fighting to stay connected with someone who didn't treasure me the way I wanted to be treasured.
But the reality was, I didn't treasure myself.
That experience woke me up to the cost of shame and the ways I dismissed myself. I made myself a promise to never again take my brilliance for granted.
Now I help others do the same.
